About Nancy Koster: Nancy has been quilting for more than 25 years.  Nancy was drawn to the efficient and organized process of paper piecing the “Quiltworx” way.  She has been teaching over 5 years.  Her students love her calm personality and ability to teach all levels of students.

Nancy enjoys all aspects of quilting from selecting fabrics, longarm quilting and most of all teaching.  She loves to see her student’s project come together.  Nancy believes every student can succeed and is thrilled to see them gain confidence as they complete their projects.

Tea Leaf Tablerunner

This is a popular Judy Neimeyer paper-pieced project taught by certified instructor, Nancy Kloster. This class is taught in two sessions, the first being a prep day where you will select fabric and get organized, and the second day being focused on learning efficient paper piecing techniques and allowing you to go to town on your project!

Quiltworx Desert Sky Workshop

The Desert Sky pattern uses a selection of bright and dark fat quarters.  Template Layout sheets were designed and provided with the instructions to speed up the cutting process, allowing you to stack and cut your fat quarters in two groups of fabrics. In addition to learning Judy’s fast and efficient paper piecing techniques, you will learn the ease of Curved Piecing and Judy's Famous Floating points.  

The skill level ranges from beginner to advanced.
Finished size 48 X 54. Additional papers are available to make a larger quilt

Quiltworx Wrapped in Ribbon Table Runner Workshop

In the Wrapped in Ribbon Table Runner Workshops we will cover Foundation Paper Piecing, Template Layout Sheets, Floating Points, and Smart Corners; features that have become design standards to Judy's patterns. In addition to learning Judy’s fast and efficient paper piecing techniques, you will learn the ease of Curved Piecing and her Famous Floating points.  

The pattern includes enough papers to make (2) 17 X 51 Table Runners.
The skill level ranges from beginner to advanced

About Amanda Murphy: Amanda Murphy has always been attracted to color, texture, and pattern, and has been designing, drawing, and sewing since she was a child. She graduated with a bachelor of fine arts degree from Carnegie Mellon University, and worked as a graphic designer, and art director in Alexandria, Virginia, and New York City. After moving to North Carolina with her family, Amanda discovered quilting, an art that combines her passion for design with her enthusiasm for handwork. Amanda has published many patterns and books and designed several popular fabric collections. 


Full Day Event

Spend a day with fabric designer, pattern designer, author and BERNINA Quilting and Longarm Spokesperson, Amanda Murphy. Begin the day with a trunk show of Amanda’s beautiful quilts and projects. She’ll talk about her work in the quilting industry and where she gets her inspiration. She will share her tips for preparing and quilting a quilt top on your sewing machine, including quilting the center, sashing, borders with quilting fillers, feathers and ruler work. From fabric design and selection to writing, developing, and executing quilting plans, she’ll walk you through her design process to help you take your quilting skills to the next level. She will also have a book signing at the end of the day. Join us for a day of quilting fun.

You will learn how to prepare your applique pieces - both with “innie and outie” points ... and how to create perfect circles.  Then, you will learn how to use the features of your machine to the fullest and stitch down your masterpiece. No one will know you didn’t do it by hand (unless they are sitting next to you in class!).

About Sue Nickels: Sue has been quilting for 36 years, starting by hand and gradually focusing on machine work. Sue has been teaching machine techniques for the past 26 years. Sue has taught and lectured nationally for shops, guilds and major conferences, including AQS, IQA and the Mancuso Quiltfests. She has also taught internationally in England, Norway, Australia, New Zealand and Spain. Sue’s priority in the workshops she teaches is to provide a relaxed environment for students to learn machine techniques that are timesaving. Sue emphasizes the best quality workmanship, never compromising quality for speed!


Fall in Love with Feathers

Learn to free motion quilt beautiful feather designs on your home sewing machine. The feather is the ideal design for free motion quilting and is easier than you think. First, practice the techniques used to achieve beautiful, consistent and smooth stitches. Next, work on practice pieces to learn all about feathers, starting with the basic feather and then moving on to motif feathers and whole cloth type feathers. Finish with fillers, adding great dimension. Sue will have many quilts that feature feathers to show for inspiration! Please note: Students will work on pre-printed practice squares.

You will learn how to transfer a quilt design, mark your fabric, and execute this project. Students will work on their own sewing machines, but also participate in a Round Robin project featuring the BERNINA Q20!

Do you want to be able to Twist and Shout when you nish a project? Well We Can Work It Out! All You Need Is Love, and A Little Help from Your Friends, Sue Nickels and Pat Holly.

Have you ever wondered how on earth you can quilt a large project on your home sewing machine? Sue will demonstrate and explain how to handle nishing a large quilt on a home sew- ing machine. She will cover how she handles the bulk, moves the quilt in a limited space, and uses the tools and notions to promote success, including feet, needles, and thread preferences. Sue will also share special tips on her way of using the BSR foot. Sue is an expert who shares her knowledge generously.

Pat is known around the world for her perfect miniature machine applique. She will cover tips to get you started as well as the fine details to bring your applique to the next level. She’ll show you the products she uses to stabilize the fabric, the most dependable threads, and the tools and notions she loves.
