Special Guest: Amanda Murphy

Spend a day with fabric designer, pattern designer, author and BERNINA Quilting and Longarm Spokesperson, Amanda Murphy. Begin the day with a trunk show of Amanda’s beautiful quilts and projects. She’ll talk about her work in the quilting industry and where she gets her inspiration. She will share her tips for preparing and quilting a quilt top on your sewing machine, including quilting the center, sashing, borders with quilting fillers, feathers and ruler work. From fabric design and selection to writing, developing, and executing quilting plans, she’ll walk you through her design process to help you take your quilting skills to the next level. She will also have a book signing at the end of the day. Join us for a day of quilting fun.

About Amanda Murphy: Amanda Murphy has always been attracted to color, texture, and pattern, and has been designing, drawing, and sewing since she was a child. She graduated with a bachelor of fine arts degree from Carnegie Mellon University, and worked as a graphic designer, and art director in Alexandria, Virginia, and New York City. After moving to North Carolina with her family, Amanda discovered quilting, an art that combines her passion for design with her enthusiasm for handwork. Amanda has published many patterns and books and designed several popular fabric collections.
