From Earth to Thread: The History and Art of Fabric Dyeing

Long before synthetic color existed, cloth was dyed with what people could dig, pick, or boil-and what came out of that pot said something about who you were. Come hear the story of natural and earth-pigment dyes: how they shaped art, marked social status, and varied widely by where in the world you stood. Then we’ll walk through the the actual dyeing process of natural dyes and earth pigments. You’ll learn how to select dyes that compliment your favorite fabric designs to make your quilts one of a kind and extra fabulous. This is a casual fun event made for quilters, makers, and anyone who loves to add something special to their projects. No experience needed, just bring yourself and a little curiosity.
